Geophysics

November–December 2009
The November–December issue of Geophysics is published with a supplement of 48 papers on seismic imaging and inversion. Guest editors Stefan Buske, Isabelle Lecomte, Tamas Nemeth, Stéphane Operto, and Valenti Sallares received more than 60 submissions, with about a one-to-one ratio of authors submitting from academic institutions and industry. Papers address a broad spectrum of topics covering different methodologies and aspects of inversion problems. The supplement is dedicated to Albert Tarantola (1949–2009), a pioneer in seismic inversion.
January–February 2010
The January–February issue of Geophysics includes 40 technical papers and the 2010 version of the Instructions to Authors. These instructions are updated each year, and all authors should read them before submission to learn of any changes implemented by the Editor.
Geophysics seeks Best Paper nominations
SEG Editor Vladimir Grechka encourages members to review papers published in 2009 in Geophysics and submit Best Paper nominations by 15 March 2010 to sdanker@seg.org.
Geophysics invites dissertation abstract submissions
Geophysics publishes abstracts of dissertations both in print and online. Recent Ph.D. graduates are invited to submit abstracts of their dissertations by completing and submitting the submission form). About Geophysics
Geophysics, published by the Society of Exploration Geophysicists since 1936, is an archival journal encompassing all aspects of research, exploration, and education in applied geophysics. Its articles, generally more than 175 per year in six issues, cover the entire spectrum of geophysical methods, including seismology, potential fields, electromagnetics, and borehole measurements. Geophysics, a bimonthly, provides theoretical and mathematical tools needed to reproduce depicted work, encouraging further development and research.
